Robert Kocharian's Statement Contains Major Corruption Risks

The second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, has stated that tax privileges are currently being granted to specific entrepreneurs, which carries significant corruption risks.

During the "Big Politics" podcast, Robert Kocharian noted that certain businesses are being given privileges, such as exemptions from customs duties. In his view, this represents the worst form of tax privilege, which is fraught with corruption dangers.

Kocharian emphasized that during his tenure, such solutions were never applied, because it is unjust to grant privileges to one company in the sector while denying them to another. According to him, when granting a tax privilege, it should apply to the entire sector.

“Incidentally, almost all those who have received these privileges have subsequently made donations to the "My Step" Foundation or the "Civil Contract" party. This is a direct manifestation of corruption. You are granting a tax privilege in exchange for what is essentially a bribe,” said Kocharian.
