David Chaloyan Reaches World Cup Boxing Finals
In the ongoing World Cup boxing tournament in Brazil, Armenian representative David Chaloyan has secured a spot in the finals. In the semifinals, the Armenian boxer achieved a confident victory over Uzbekistan's Jahongir Zakirov, the 2025 world silver medalist.
During the match against the Uzbek athlete, Chaloyan utilized a strategic approach. By keeping his opponent at the necessary distance, the Armenian boxer delivered timely and precise punches, demonstrating a clear advantage throughout the bout.
In the finals of the World Cup tournament, Chaloyan's opponent will be a representative from Azerbaijan, competing for the gold medal. It is worth noting that in the quarterfinals, Chaloyan had eliminated Turkey's representative; after a series of punches in the second round, the opponent sustained an injury, leading the referees to declare Chaloyan the winner.
Additionally, it should be mentioned that another Armenian representative, Rudolf Garboyan, suffered defeat in a similarly scripted match and concluded his journey in the quarterfinals.
