Arsen Harutyunyan Reaches Semifinals, Armenian Wrestlers Continue Their Fight
In the ongoing European Wrestling Championship, members of the Armenian national team continue their battle for medals. In the quarterfinals, Armenian wrestlers achieved mixed results; while Arsen Harutyunyan secured his place in the semifinals with a brilliant victory, Narek Harutyunyan and Khachatur Khachatryan are still waiting for the opportunity to compete in the consolation matches.
In the 61 kg weight category, Arsen Harutyunyan confidently overcame the quarterfinal hurdle by achieving an impressive victory over Ukraine's Kamil Kerimov. In the evening bout, the Armenian wrestler will compete for a spot in the finals.
In the 125 kg heavyweight category, Khachatur Khachatryan suffered a painful defeat. He fought tenaciously against the reigning European champion and bronze medalist from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Georgi Meshvildishvili, but lost in the final moments of the match with a score of 5-5.
If Meshvildishvili reaches the finals, Khachatryan will have the opportunity to continue his fight for a bronze medal.
As for 74 kg wrestler Narek Harutyunyan, he lost in his quarterfinal match with a score of 0-8 to Murad Kuramagamedov. The Armenian wrestler will only be able to participate in the consolation matches if his opponent, who defeated him, reaches the finals.
