Robert Kocharian Issues Statement
The simple citizen of Armenia wants the state to stand by their side, rather than on their shoulders with a stick in hand. This was stated by Robert Kocharian, the candidate for Prime Minister from the ‘Armenia’ alliance, during a meeting with members of the alliance and residents of Masis city.
“These days I constantly think about what our people, the simple citizen of Armenia living in a village or city, wants from life. I may be mistaken, but my impression is that they want a quiet life, they want to have work, and if they are cultivating land, they do not want to worry about marketing their harvest. They want life to be stable, predictable, and understandable, and for the state to stand by their side rather than on their shoulders with a stick in hand.
The businessman wants the tax environment to be understandable, that taxes do not increase, and the citizen wants property tax to be such that they do not have to borrow money to pay it. There should be no national humiliation, and they should have a dignified life. These are the simple things, the absence of which leaves a person feeling constantly oppressed. One must always think about what the future of their child will be,” he noted.
He posed a question: why should the citizens of the Republic of Armenia constantly think about security? “Whenever I meet someone, the first question is whether there will be a war or not, whether the country is safe or not. The question does not arise—why is it like this?”
“Today, the government continuously attempts to convince our people that the country is not safe, threatening with war. The instigator of the war theme today is Nikol Pashinyan on a daily basis; it is this government,” stated Robert Kocharian, the second President of the Republic of Armenia.
