US Seizes Three Iranian Tankers
According to Reuters, U.S. military sources in the maritime and security sectors have reported that American forces have intercepted at least three tankers flying the Iranian flag in Asian waters. These vessels are currently being removed from their positions near India, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka.
Washington has imposed a blockade on Iran's maritime trade, while Iran has targeted the ships in an effort to prevent their passage through the Strait of Hormuz, close to the entrance of the Persian Gulf. The report notes that almost two months after the U.S. and Israel initiated a war against Iran, and in the midst of an uncertain ceasefire, there are no signs of resumed peace negotiations.
The closure of the strait has led to disruptions in the supply of one-fifth of the world's oil and gas reserves, triggering a global energy crisis. In recent days, American forces have also detained an Iranian cargo ship and oil tankers.
