Shares of 'Areni HPP' to be Confiscated from Brother of Serzh Sargsyan's Daughter
The Anti-Corruption Court partially granted the Prosecutor's motion for the confiscation of property of illegal origin on April 21, 2026. According to the ruling, 39,341 shares of 'Areni HPP' LLC, engaged in electricity production, will be confiscated from Ani Sargsyan, the daughter of Lyova Sargsyan, brother of the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, as property of illegal origin.
In addition, the ruling includes the seizure of $760,274 in bank deposits belonging to Ani Sargsyan, along with interest accrued on this amount from April 28, 2021, until the actual execution of the decision. The court will also confiscate $103,833 received as interest from the bank deposit, deposits totaling 9,774,746 dram, and interest accrued on this amount, along with 425,803 dram and its accrued interest. Furthermore, 4,853 euros and corresponding interest up to the enforcement of the decision will also be seized.
There is a sum of 2,643,357 dram mentioned, which is not substantiated by legitimate income and has an illegal origin, making it impossible to confiscate since it was transferred during the years 2010-2021 to a bona fide acquirer or cannot be identified for confiscation.
Thus, following the enforcement of the judicial act, the following will be confiscated in favor of the Republic of Armenia: 39,341 shares of a company engaged in electricity production (the total market value of the company is approximately 686,000,000 dram), a total of $864,107 in deposits and accrued interest until the actual execution of the decision, a total of 10,200,549 dram and its accrued interest, 4,853 euros and its accrued interest, as well as 2,643,357 dram.
