New U.S. Decision on NATO and Europe

New U.S. Decision on NATO and Europe

The U.S. administration plans to allocate approximately $1.4 billion to NATO in the fiscal year 2027, as well as support for infrastructure used by U.S. troops in Europe. Specifically, the documents indicate that $756.7 million is earmarked for general requirements related to NATO's military budget. Notably, this figure exceeds the allocations planned for the fiscal year 2026 by $96.1 million.

In addition to the alliance's budget, the White House is requesting an additional $604.3 million from Congress. This amount will be directed exclusively towards supporting the infrastructure that facilitates the operational activities of American armed forces in the European region. The total allocation planned in both areas amounts to approximately $1.361 billion.

The U.S. Department of Defense emphasizes that such investments are driven by Washington's national security interests. According to the department, the United States has a sustained interest in the stability of Europe and regional integration, which justifies this distribution of military spending.
