Iran Has Not Requested a Ceasefire Extension from the U.S., Says Tasnim
Iran has not submitted a request to Washington for an extension of the ceasefire, reports Tasnim agency. According to Iranian state television (IRIB), the Islamic Republic of Iran does not acknowledge the actions of the American side.
“Tehran does not recognize the ceasefire declared by Trump, fully reserves the right not to comply with it, and will act according to its national interests,” noted the IRIB report.
According to Tasnim’s publication, Iranian authorities view Washington's move either as a sign of U.S. failure or as a deception aimed at preparing another attack on the country.
It was also reported that Tehran does not intend to open the Strait of Hormuz while the United States maintains its naval blockade. The agency adds that if necessary, Iran will use force to break the blockade.
Earlier, on the evening of April 21, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the decision to extend the ceasefire until the completion of negotiations. He clarified that he had received such a request from representatives of Pakistan.
