Video: The Church of the Holy Mother of God Destroyed in Stepanakert. Why Are You Silent, Marukyan?
According to the Artsakh Tourism and Cultural Development Agency, the Church of the Holy Mother of God has been destroyed in Stepanakert. A few days ago, Azerbaijanis also demolished the Church of St. James located on Hekimyan Street in the same city of Stepanakert,” wrote Edmond Marukyan, leader of the Bright Armenia party, in a video posted on his social media page.
“With these actions, Azerbaijan demonstrates its attitude towards the pre-signed agreement with Armenia, the Armenian authorities, and, generally, the Armenian people, who, according to the authorities, are eagerly awaiting a large-scale trade with Azerbaijan.
At the same time, when an Israeli soldier broke the statue of Jesus Christ in Lebanese territory and the photo circulated, all Israeli officials apologized to the Christian world, as the matter was raised both by Christian states and Lebanon, where about 35-40 percent of the population is Christian.
However, the Armenian authorities—the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary of the Security Council, representatives of civil society, who go to Baku with open mouths and return with smiles—say nothing about all of this. Shame on you.
The Armenian Christian culture is being destroyed at the state level. Why are you silent? Know well, if the decision-makers in our country do not change, this policy of desecration will remain unpunished, and Azerbaijani vandalism will continue to spread, already in today’s Armenian territory. We have a chance to stop this catastrophe on June 7,” Marukyan wrote.
