US to Send Delegation to Russia
Washington is planning another visit to Russia to discuss the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis. The New York Times, citing a source familiar with the process, reports that the US intends to send a delegation to Russia.
According to the publication, Washington is expecting significant progress in negotiations concerning Ukraine before sending negotiators to Kyiv. The publication recalls that back in April, President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope for the swift visit of American representatives Jared Kushner and Steve Biegun to Ukraine.
Although in recent weeks Kushner and Biegun have focused on the conflicts in the Middle East, journalists note that discussions around Ukraine have been advancing quietly behind the scenes.
NYT also reports that representatives from Kyiv proposed to name the combat zone in Donbas as "Donniland" in honor of Donald Trump during negotiations. Throughout 2026, Russia, Ukraine, and the US have already held three rounds of trilateral negotiations in Geneva and Abu Dhabi, the latest of which took place on February 17-18. The next phase planned for March in the UAE was canceled due to the outbreak of war in the Middle East.
Zelensky stated that against the backdrop of the ongoing battles in Iran, the US agreed to meet only on their territory, to which Russia did not consent. Dmitry Peskov noted that the Kremlin expects negotiations to resume soon, adding that the disagreements between the parties are limited to "counted kilometers."
