Ruben Vardanyan's Message

The former State Minister of Artsakh, Ruben Vardanyan, has sent a message from a Baku prison. Armenian citizens have been held in Azerbaijani prisons for a long time, without meetings with family members and independent monitoring, including by the International Committee of the Red Cross. In this context, the institution responsible for protecting the rights of Armenian citizens shows no initiative.

Despite the lack of diplomatic relations between the countries, negotiations are ongoing on economic issues with the participation of Armenian representatives in Baku. So why are the issues concerning the lives, health, and rights of the imprisoned not on the agenda of the official Yerevan, and why hasn’t any member of the delegation visited the detainees?

Considering all of the above, I ask you to contemplate the possibility of your visit to Baku, as well as that of other relatives of Armenian prisoners under appropriate conditions. My wife, Veronika Zonabend, is ready to participate in such an initiative and visit Baku.
