EU Issues Statement Regarding Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey

The European Union intends to expand cooperation with Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey in order to develop energy and transportation links between Central Asia and the Black Sea. This was announced by European Commissioner Marta Kos on the eve of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg.

She clarified that the strategy is based on creating stable logistics and trade routes between Europe and Central Asia. According to the Commissioner, the need for new routes arises from the instability of traditional ones. In particular, the northern routes have been disrupted due to actions by Russia, while the southern routes have come under pressure due to the conflict in Iran.

In light of the current situation, the European Union emphasizes alternative corridors passing through the South Caucasus. Marta Kos added that the EU is already implementing specific projects in the region, and the ministers will discuss further steps to deepen cooperation in the fields of transport and energy with the three countries.
