Ambassadors of Two Countries Summoned to Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Regarding Yerevan and Baku
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has separately summoned the ambassadors of Belgium and the Netherlands concerning documents adopted by the parliaments of these countries, which relate to the peace process between Baku and Yerevan. This information was reported by the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, according to TASS.
“During the meetings, a strong protest was expressed regarding the documents adopted by the parliaments of Belgium and the Netherlands on April 16, 2026, which are seen as yet another irresponsible attempt directed against Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a disturbance to the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” the statement read.
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that these documents are based on entirely false and unfounded assessments, demonstrating a deep-rooted anti-Azerbaijani bias within the mentioned frameworks.
“During the meetings, false references regarding Azerbaijan’s sovereign territories and baseless accusations related to the supposed violation of Armenia’s territorial integrity, the rights of individuals of Armenian descent, and their alleged illegal detention were firmly rejected,” the text stated.
The Foreign Ministry found it paradoxical that the adoption of these documents coincided in timing with the meeting in Istanbul on April 17 between the speakers of the Azerbaijani and Armenian parliaments.
Baku has called on the Belgian and Dutch sides to take effective measures to prevent the actions of anti-Azerbaijani groups in their parliaments that may harm bilateral relations.
