Orbán May Lift Veto on Loan to Ukraine, Says Madiar

The leader of Hungary's victorious "Tisza" party, Péter Madiar, has suggested that current Prime Minister Viktor Orbán may revoke his veto concerning the loan to Ukraine. The political figure links this potential move to the prospects of resuming oil deliveries through the "Friendship" pipeline.

According to Madiar, Kyiv has committed to restoring the normal operation of the pipeline and ensuring the transit of raw materials by the end of April. Considering that Orbán will remain in office until the beginning of May, it is expected that the ban on financing will be lifted during this time as compensation for guarantees on energy supplies.

At the same time, it has been clarified that Budapest's stance on financial participation has not changed. Hungary is only willing to lift the political ban but does not intend to be directly involved in the process of allocating loan funds to Ukraine.

Previously, the Hungarian authorities have consistently emphasized the priority of energy security within the framework of the European Union's support programs for Kyiv. These developments come amid ongoing political changes and a transfer of power within the country.
