The National Assembly's Podium Has Become an Object of Personal Vendettas: Meloyan
Member of the "Strong Armenia" party and constitutional expert Gohar Meloyan responded to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements made during a question-and-answer session with the government in the National Assembly just moments ago, regarding Samvel Karapetyan's financial assets, which Pashinyan claimed would be lost by the end of the year.
“Are we surprised by such statements from the head of the country's executive authority? Not at all. In the case of our political force’s leader, Samvel Karapetyan, he already has experience with this. The seizure of HETC is, in the classic sense, an expropriation of property. I think this does not surprise any of us. This person, the podium of the National Assembly, which should be the main platform for solving people's problems and addressing state issues, has turned into an object of personal vendettas. They use discourse at a neighborhood level,” Gohar Meloyan stated.
When asked if it is possible that this statement by Pashinyan could lead to another legal process and the initiation of new criminal proceedings, Meloyan replied: “This statement is yet another valid reason for why the citizens of Armenia should go to the voting booths on June 7 and say 'no' to the Civil Contract party and choose a dignified life in a legal state. It is exactly this change that we want to bring. We want to change the reality where state officials feel free to do whatever they want, guided solely by personal motives and political interests—throwing stones at the legal and democratic nature of our state and the future of our generations—precisely from the standpoint of the existence of statehood,” said Gohar Meloyan, member of the "Strong Armenia" party and constitutional expert.
