Extension of Ceasefire Between the US and Iran in Question: Axios

The United States has not officially confirmed its agreement to extend the ceasefire regime with Iran, contrary to circulating reports. According to Axios, citing a senior U.S. official, active communications between the parties are ongoing to reach a final agreement.

This position is echoed by Iranian Foreign Ministry representative Esmail Baghaei, who stated that assumptions about the extension of the ceasefire have yet to be confirmed.

According to Iranian sources, consultations are currently taking place exclusively under the mediation of Pakistan. Earlier, the Associated Press reported, citing regional sources, that there was possible progress in the negotiation process.

These sources indicated that mediating countries in the Middle East have succeeded in reaching a certain agreement regarding the reduction of tensions and the maintenance of existing arrangements.

The negotiations center around three main contentious points, which led to the temporary halt of the process last weekend. These involve Iran's nuclear program, the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and compensation for damage caused by war.

Mediators are trying to find a compromise solution before the expiration of the current ceasefire deadline on April 22.
