Reaching an Agreement was Considered Difficult from the Start: Iranian Foreign Ministry

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement regarding the negotiation process with the United States, noting that the atmosphere of distrust between the parties did not allow for a definitive agreement to be reached within one meeting. Despite some consensus on certain points, disagreements over two key issues have hindered the finalization of the deal.

The discussions, which lasted approximately 21 hours, focused on strategic topics of international and bilateral interest. Specifically, the parties discussed issues concerning the security of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's nuclear program, the lifting of economic sanctions, and potential reparations.

The goal of the negotiations was to achieve a definitive resolution to the conflict, but according to U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vences, no outcome was attained.

U.S. President Donald Trump had announced the initiation of the process the day before. He emphasized that in the event of a negotiation failure, Washington was prepared to resume military strikes against Iran.

At this moment, the parties have not clarified the timelines or format for future meetings; however, the Iranian side maintains the position that resolving such complex issues in a single phase was impossible.
