Araqchin Expresses Lack of Confidence
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchin has stated that Tehran approaches the upcoming negotiations with the United States with "full lack of confidence." This was reported by the Mehr News Agency, citing his remarks during a phone conversation with his German counterpart, Johan Wadephul.
Araqchin emphasized that Iran is ready to steadfastly defend its national interests and the rights of its citizens, regardless of the course of the negotiations. According to him, the country intends to consistently advance its positions on international platforms.
The head of Iran's diplomacy also recalled previous instances when, in his assessment, the U.S. had "betrayed diplomatic processes." This circumstance, according to Araqchin, continues to affect Tehran's level of trust toward Washington.
During the phone conversation, the parties also discussed issues related to the regional and international agenda, but the main emphasis was placed on the upcoming interactions with the United States.
