Pezeşkian Highlights the Biggest Obstacle to Reaching Agreement with the US
Iranian President Masoud Pezeşkian has stated during a telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin that Tehran is ready to sign a fair and balanced agreement with the United States.
The Iranian President believes that the signing of such an agreement could guarantee stable security and lasting peace in the Middle East. According to the Iranian President's press service, Tehran's state priorities in negotiations remain unchanged.
Masoud Pezeşkian emphasized that respect for the rights of the Iranian people and the protection of national interests are “red lines”, and that dialogue should be based on mutual consideration of the parties' interests.
During the discussion with the Russian President, the need for stabilizing the situation in the region was also addressed. The Iranian side regularly presents initiatives aimed at reducing tension on international platforms, while stressing the importance of preserving its own sovereignty.
This statement comes amid international diplomatic activity, as parties attempt to find ways to overcome existing contradictions. During the conversation, Pezeşkian informed Putin about the current situation regarding negotiations with the United States, pointing out that the biggest obstacle to reaching an agreement is the “double standards of the US.”
