Kremlin Sees No Signs of NATO's Collapse, Says Peskov

The press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, has stated that the official Moscow does not observe any signs of NATO's disintegration at this stage. Despite existing disagreements between the U.S. and European allies and the complaints emanating from Washington, the Kremlin representative believes that the European component within the North Atlantic Alliance will gain increasing significance.

According to Peskov, recent actions by the United States have raised concerns in Europe, which has already led to practical measures. Specifically, this pertains to the European Union's common defense and security policy. The Russian side predicts that on this basis, European countries will continue to develop their military capabilities, which may lead to the creation of a separate defense alliance.

In the Kremlin, there is an understanding that complex transformations are ahead, which will significantly affect the system of checks and balances operating in Europe. Dmitry Peskov emphasized that these processes of recalibration of forces are vital for Russia's interests, and thus Moscow is carefully monitoring the developments.

Amid tensions, it is noted that U.S. President Donald Trump has previously criticized European partners for not providing support in the Middle East. Despite discussions about the possibility of withdrawing from the Alliance and the sharp disagreements recorded during negotiations, Russia still does not foresee the final dismantling of the organization.
