Roof of Olympic Stadium Catches Fire

A fire broke out at the Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, where the World Fencing Championships for juniors and cadets are being held. This was reported by the International Fencing Federation (FIE).

The fire started during the night when no one was in the stadium. Local authorities confirmed that there were no injuries resulting from the incident.

The championship is taking place in Rio de Janeiro from April 1 to 9 at the 'Arena Carioca' complex and the Olympic Velodrome. Following the fire, it has been decided to hold the remainder of the competition exclusively at the 'Arena Carioca.'

The FIE noted that the continuity of the competitions was ensured thanks to the prompt response from all involved organizations, allowing for a rapid reorganization of the process.
