Turkey's Foreign Ministry Issues Statement
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced its support for the two-week ceasefire agreement reached between the United States and Iran, underscoring the necessity for its full implementation. The ministry highlighted that the temporary cessation must be maintained on the ground, and the parties are obliged to abide by the agreed terms.
The statement emphasizes that the only way to achieve sustainable peace is through dialogue, diplomacy, and mutual trust. Ankara has also expressed its continued support for the talks scheduled in Islamabad, aiming to contribute to their successful progression.
The Turkish side particularly acknowledged Pakistan's role in the process, congratulating it for its mediation efforts and hoping that initiatives promoting peace will continue. The negotiations are set to take place on April 10 in Islamabad, with representatives from the U.S. and Iran participating.
On April 7, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the two-week ceasefire, stating that it was accepted based on a proposal by Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. At the same time, the Iranian side presented its conditions for the ceasefire, which, according to state media, have been accepted by the United States.
