Tiknizyan on His Relationship with Yeghishe Melikyan

Recently, rumors have been circulating within the Armenian football community regarding possible disagreements between the head coach of the Armenian national team, Yeghishe Melikyan, and Nair Tiknizyan. However, the player has stated that the issue was resolved after a personal meeting with the coach.

Tiknizyan expressed that he does not want to make predictions about Armenia's chances in the current Nations League tournament, emphasizing that it is important to move from words to actions. He pointed out the necessity of working hard in the summer, gathering in September, and addressing the challenges ahead for the national team. The player believes that every match with the national team is crucial.

Referring to Yeghishe Melikyan's visit to Serbia, Tiknizyan noted that the head coach came primarily to observe his game and assess his condition. According to him, they met after the match and discussed various football topics for about four hours.

The player acknowledged that there had been minor disagreements between them but considered such variations of opinion perfectly normal. He stated that it is even beneficial to have differing opinions on the same issue. Tiknizyan mentioned that they eventually managed to reach a consensus, and now there can be no talk of disagreements.

Speaking about the significance of playing for the Armenian national team, Tiknizyan said that it is a great honor for him. He emphasized that it represents a small nation that rejoices in even the smallest victories. He noted that although the national team does not win often, he certainly feels the pride of Armenians around the world during moments of success, which brings him great joy.

Tiknizyan also mentioned that he is now one of the most experienced players in the national team, a circumstance that places double responsibility on him. He stated that it is very important to lead both on and off the field.

When discussing Armenian players abroad, Tiknizyan said that he sometimes follows the games of his compatriots and teammates. He noted that he frequently keeps an eye on the performances of Arthur Miranyan and Edgar Sevakyan, and occasionally watches summaries of Vahan Bichakhchyan's matches. The player expressed that he enjoys all these players for their style of play.

Tiknizyan also singled out Eduard Spertsyan, mentioning that he is a very close friend. He stated that he has good relationships with all the players on the team, but Spertsyan feels more like a kindred spirit due to their long-standing friendship.
