No leader of our 'Caliber' has the right to enter into geopolitical games: Levon Ter-Petrosyan
“No leader of our 'Caliber' should, moreover, has the right to enter into the geopolitical games of the great powers. One should not be so naive as to think that they can promise something to one superpower and something else to another, and achieve some success through this 'cunning politics',” stated the first president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, in a Facebook post.
“It is impossible to make deals behind the backs of any superpower without the other great powers being fully aware of them. All superpowers have such powerful intelligence capabilities that small countries are unlikely to be able to hide any secrets from them. Therefore, leaders of small states should be as honest as possible with great powers. Such behavior will definitely be appreciated by them, and even if you gain nothing from it, you will certainly lose nothing. In a nutshell, to put it in popular terms, no leader of a small country should even entertain the thought that by playing with their 'petty aspirations,' they can deceive the giants of the world. One of those strings, and sometimes both, will eventually inevitably end up tightening around their neck,” Levon Ter-Petrosyan, 2013.
