Kaya Kallas on Ceasefire Between the US and Iran

The High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Kallas, has referred to the ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran as a significant opportunity for de-escalation.

According to her, the two-week ceasefire, achieved through mediation by Pakistan, allows for halting missile strikes, restoring shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, and creating conditions for a lasting diplomatic resolution.

Kallas expressed gratitude to the Pakistani side for supporting the agreement and noted that the European Union is ready to actively support the peace process. Today, the head of European diplomacy is in Saudi Arabia, where she is discussing ways to address the root causes of the conflict that remain unresolved.
