Two Vetoes: UN Resolution Fails

Russia and China have vetoed a resolution proposed by Bahrain in the UN Security Council regarding the resumption of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by the Associated Press.

During the vote, 11 out of 15 council members supported the initiative. Two countries, Pakistan and Colombia, abstained, while the positions of Russia and China prevented the adoption of the document.

According to the source, in the initial version, Bahrain proposed allowing the use of "all necessary means," including potential military actions, to ensure the passage of ships through the strait. However, as discussions progressed, the wording was modified.

The final version suggested that countries "coordinate defensive efforts" to ensure safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz without the explicit authorization of military actions.
