Putin Has Phone Conversation with Erdogan
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has had a phone conversation with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. According to the Kremlin's press service, the call took place at the initiative of the Turkish side.
As per the same source, the leaders of the two countries discussed the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, the consequences of current military operations, and noted that their continuation negatively impacts the global economy. The announcement emphasizes the emerging issues in the fields of energy, trade, and logistics.
Both parties expressed support for the establishment of a ceasefire as soon as possible and the search for compromise solutions that take into account the interests of regional states.
The phone conversation also addressed the situation surrounding Ukraine. The Kremlin reported that Putin thanked Erdogan for his readiness to support the negotiation process. At the same time, the Russian side mentioned that Ukraine is attempting to strike at the gas transport infrastructure between Russia and Turkey, as well as targeting commercial vessels in the Black Sea.
At the end of the conversation, according to the Kremlin, both presidents emphasized the necessity of joint steps in the Black Sea region to ensure comprehensive security. No further details were provided in the official statement.
