Iran Initiates Large-Scale Mobilization: WSJ

Iran has initiated a mass mobilization in response to the activation of American military forces in the Middle East. This information was reported by The Wall Street Journal, indicating that the country’s authorities have begun to recruit a broad spectrum of citizens, including minors.

“Iran is preparing for fierce battles,” the publication stated. It noted that starting from March 29, volunteers can be involved in providing medical assistance, guarding checkpoints, and preparing food.

Military analysts estimate that Iran has around one million active and reserve service members, approximately 190,000 of whom belong to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The publication mentions that this initiative bears certain similarities to the mobilization methods used during the 1980s war with Iraq, when minors were also involved.

Analysts believe that in case of a potential ground operation by the U.S., Iran may expand the geography of its strikes to target oil platforms, power plants, and other strategic infrastructures.

At the same time, the media reports that the U.S. is considering the option of a ground operation against Iran and the deployment of troops near the country's borders and the Kharg Island. Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has announced that around seven million people are ready to voluntarily participate in the country’s defense.
