Federation Council Chairwoman on Abducting Zelensky

The Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia, Valentina Matviyenko, has rejected the idea of abducting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“Russia will not act with Volodymyr Zelensky as the United States did with Nicolás Maduro,” she stated.

Matviyenko made these remarks during a program aired on Russian television, responding to discussions that included such suggestions. She noted that Russia will not employ methods that could damage the country’s reputation.

The official also emphasized that such actions, in her assessment, do not align with the approaches that guide Russia in international relations.

Earlier discussions had drawn parallels with the actions of the U.S. towards leaders of other countries, but Matviyenko pointed out that Russia has no intention of following such examples.
