“The word hero should be used very carefully, as we have used it so much that we essentially blur the line between real heroes and verbal heroes,” said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a press briefing, adding that there have been tens of thousands who refused to fulfill combat assignments.

“Who are we hiding from?” the Prime Minister continued. “A minuscule part of the weapons that were available in Artsakh during the events of 2023 came into play. People should not associate their fleeing or dodging with my orders. People wanted to receive such orders; I have never given such orders. Whoever claims otherwise is from the army of those who fled. People have come from Artsakh, they are men. But when you study their stories during the 44-day war, one was spreading panic, one was a deserter, another was helping his son escape from the front lines,” Pashinyan stated, adding, “Yes, we have had cowardly generals; what should a general who has become one due to corruption be... or what is that soldier supposed to look like, having their bellies three meters against the ground?”
