Sandstorm in Crete: The Sky Turns Orange-Red
Ofelya
A sandstorm has been recorded on the Greek island of Crete, causing the sky to take on orange-red hues. This phenomenon has been attributed to high concentrations of sand in the atmosphere, according to media reports.
The natural event was accompanied by strong winds and a whirlwind, which inflicted significant damage on the coastal town of Pachia Ammos. Reports indicate that trucks were overturned, trees were uprooted, and several buildings were damaged.
Residents and visitors have been advised to stay indoors to avoid the impact of polluted air. Dust levels in the air have exceeded 1000 µg/m³, and meteorologists are warning of a new sand flow expected from the Sahara.
