Chechen Aysat Baymurdov Buried in Armenia After Being Murdered in Yerevan
Aysat Baymurdov, a Chechen who was murdered in Yerevan, has been buried in Armenia after his body remained in a morgue for several months. This information was reported by Sputnik Armenia.
According to Armenian legislation, the body could only be handed over to relatives; however, they refused to accept Aysat and did not respond to inquiries. Armenian authorities, particularly the president of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, who promised to address this issue, agreed to cover the funeral expenses to ensure the body was returned to the ground.
Aysat's grave is located in a separate section of the cemetery, where there are no headstones. The 23-year-old Baymurdov had fled Chechnya and went missing in Yerevan on October 15, 2025. He was last seen meeting with a woman named Karina Iminova, and a few days later, he was found dead. Armenian law enforcement suspects Iminova and Said-Hamzaat Baisarov, who was born in Chechnya, of being involved in his murder.
