Hormuz Strait Open Only on Iran's Terms, Says Aziz

The chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security Committee, Ebrahim Azizi, has stated that the Hormuz Strait is not closed; however, it will only be accessible to those parties that accept the new rules set by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Azizi made this announcement on the social media platform X, addressing U.S. President Donald Trump. The Iranian official remarked that Trump has, in his words, realized a long-standing dream of 'regime change', but not in Iran, rather in the realm of maritime regulation in the region. He emphasized that 'the strait will not be open for you.'

In his post, Azizi also declared that, in his assessment, the '47-year era of hospitality' by Iran has come to an end. He stated that navigation through the strait will only be possible for those countries and actors who comply with Tehran's stipulated demands.

Azizi's statements have emerged amid rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran. Simultaneously, the formulations presented are his personal comments on social media and reflect the official's perspective regarding the issue.
