David Minasyan Detained for 2 Months
David Minasyan, an 18-year-old participant in an incident at St. Anna Church involving Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, has been placed in detention for two months. The defense attorney stated that their hopes were not fulfilled, leading to the decision for detention against the 12th-grade student. They noted that the ruling would be in effect until one o'clock, but details regarding the justification for the decision are still unknown, aside from the fact that charges have been filed under two articles.
The attorney also mentioned that David displayed a combat-ready, calm, and masculine demeanor, expressing hope that he would continue to act in such a manner throughout, and that justice would prevail.
It is recalled that an incident occurred on March 29 at St. Anna Church during Pashinyan's attendance. The Prime Minister's bodyguards initially pulled the young man aside to clear a path, but a dispute arose when he indicated he wished to remain in his place. Subsequently, police forcibly removed the youths from the church. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident under Article 297, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to hooliganism, and Article 452, Part 3, which involves interference with the legal professional or political activities of an official.
Those detained include David and Mikael Minasyan, who are both students, as well as public figure Gevorg Gevorgyan.
