VIDEO: Vardevanyan on Karapetyan's House Arrest

Businessman and candidate for Prime Minister from the "Strong Armenia" party, Samvel Karapetyan's lawyer Aram Vardevanyan has stated: "On March 18, we submitted an appeal against the illegal (house) arrest decision of Samvel Karapetyan. Today we received the decision from the Court of Appeals. Imagine, while the preliminary investigation is still ongoing, the court, despite having all the grounds to annul the illegal house arrest, has essentially avoided providing a solution to this issue, leaving it for the upcoming court session.

By the way, the Appeals Court did not even resolve the issue regarding video messages. Some of our substantiated arguments were acknowledged by the Court; however, all of this reflects textbook political persecution that has been ongoing for about 10 months. This is a clear violation of Articles 5 and 18 of the European Convention. It represents a denial of justice. Despite all this, be assured that the law must prevail and will prevail.
