Relatives of Twin Brothers Write Letter to Armenian State Authorities
The relatives, classmates, and supporters of twin brothers Davit and Mikayel Minasyan have written a letter to the Armenian state authorities, which we present below:
“Davit and Mikayel Minasyan are intelligent, educated, literate, developed, and patriotic young men, the offspring of a decent and modest family. They have always stood out with excellent academic performance and have been the pride of their school, as evidenced by dozens of commendations and certificates. During their years of study, they have never committed any acts of vandalism and have been peaceful young men. Davit and Mikayel are followers of the Armenian Apostolic Church and attend divine services every Sunday. They have never been members of any political party or associated with any political force, as their family is apolitical.
On the day of Palm Sunday, they were present at the Holy Liturgy held at St. Anna Church and found themselves caught in a scuffle during the prayer moment. They have never hurt or insulted anyone in their lives, especially not a respectable official who is older than them. We are more than convinced that on the day of the incident, there was no intention to harm anyone in their actions. We kindly ask that, considering the aforementioned, the fate of these young boys not be put at risk. They are bright young men full of dreams and vibrant goals, who can become valuable individuals for society and the state.”
We would like to remind that on March 29, we reported that an incident occurred at St. Anna Church with the participation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Of the three individuals arrested in the church yard, two are brothers—Davit and Mikayel Minasyan—while the other is Gevorg Gevorgyan. As of now, no charges have yet been brought against the detainees.
