First Birth of Caucasian Markhor Fawn Recorded in Nature in Armenia

Restoration of biodiversity in Armenia is yielding real results. This was stated by Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan on his Facebook page, along with a video release.

“A new video has surfaced online showing how the 'Caucasian Markhor' roams the forests of Lori. In 2025, 9 individuals were released into the wild. The first birth of a fawn in nature has already been recorded, which indicates that the efforts being made are producing tangible results.

Currently, 18 individuals are living in freedom, confirming that the restoration of the species is becoming a reality in Armenia,” wrote Minister Matevosyan.
