Trump Administration Names Potential Future Leader of Iran
The Trump administration considers Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the speaker of Iran's parliament, to be the most acceptable future leader of Iran for the U.S. This was reported by Politico.
According to the publication, the 64-year-old Qalibaf, who has previously threatened the U.S. and its allies with retaliation, is seen by the White House as a "viable partner" capable of negotiating about the next stage of war. However, the administration is not willing to settle on a single candidate, continuing to "test" several options.
"He’s a good option," said one administration official, emphasizing that final decisions have not yet been made.
White House Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt declined to provide further details, noting that "these are sensitive diplomatic discussions, and the United States will not negotiate through the media."
