Russian 'Rasvet' Satellites to Compete with Musk's 'Starlink': Bloomberg
Russian satellites within the 'Rasvet' system will compete with Elon Musk's 'Starlink', according to Bloomberg.
'Moscow aims to create a sovereign satellite internet network, which, conceptually, although on a different scale, will be comparable to 'Starlink',' the publication notes.
The first 16 satellites were launched on March 23 at 20:24. By 2035, up to 900 satellites are expected to be deployed in orbit.
'Rasvet' operates in low Earth orbit at an altitude of 800 km, while SpaceX satellites operate at approximately 550 km and lower orbits. The increased altitude extends the operational lifespan of the satellites.
