Criminal Proceedings Initiated in Death of Pregnant Woman

A tragic incident occurred yesterday at one of the medical centers where a 40-year-old pregnant woman lost her life. During childbirth, the woman’s condition deteriorated rapidly, and she lost consciousness, with doctors unfortunately unable to save her life.

Regarding the causes of the incident, Mariam Tsatryan, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, informed MediaHub that there is currently no definitive conclusion. She stated that a forensic medical examination has been appointed, and a preliminary investigation is underway.

Auroranews.am contacted the Investigative Committee for further details: “Based on the report received on March 22, 2026, criminal proceedings have been initiated the same day under Part 2 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code (failure or improper performance of professional duties by a healthcare worker that has resulted in human death through negligence). A forensic examination of the body has been appointed,” said the agency.
