Iran Responds to Trump’s Demand in 48 Hours: Major Companies to be Targeted
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran has announced that it is prepared to close the Strait of Hormuz and target American interests in the region if the ultimatum and potential military actions put forth by the U.S. are carried out. The statement indicates that such measures will be implemented if Washington follows through on its threats.
Earlier, reports emerged that Donald Trump had demanded the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, threatening to strike Iran's power plants, starting with the largest ones, should the demands not be met. In response, Iranian military leadership declared that in such a scenario, the strait would be completely closed and would not reopen until the damaged infrastructure was restored.
The same statement also mentioned that Israeli power plants, as well as energy and telecommunications infrastructure, could become targets of strikes. Furthermore, Iran threatened to annihilate those companies operating in the region that have American shareholders, as well as the energy facilities of countries where U.S. military bases are located.
The text also noted that a significant portion of global maritime oil exports has previously traversed the Strait of Hormuz, and the potential blockade has already affected the oil market.
