Deadline Set for September, Prime Minister Mentioned Conditionally: Mirzoyan on Pashinyan's Statement
Ararat Mirzoyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated during a press briefing that he believes the deadline is September and that the Prime Minister mentioned it conditionally, referring to a short time after the elections. He emphasized that the prospect of such a scenario is undoubtedly present. This remark was made in response to Pashinyan's statement that some forces are preparing for a new September war with severe consequences.
When asked by a journalist if he sees elements of blackmail in this statement, the Foreign Minister replied, 'What is the blackmail here? We are saying that we need peace; our country needs peace. Under other conditions, I assure you, not only the success of Armenia, not only its development, but the very existence of Armenia as an independent state would be in great doubt.' He noted that this is a message to the citizens, appended with a parallel proposal that they do not need this Armenia at all, and that they do not care about it, needing an unclear alternative Armenia instead. 'Is this blackmail? This is not blackmail; it's a normal thing,' he stated.
Mirzoyan mentioned that they declare themselves as a peace party, and what other forces say is so unpromising and dangerous that it could lead to war. 'That is our political right; the issue is closed. Is there blackmail? Do I see elements of blackmail? No. Why are we doing this? We are doing well; this is our political proposal. Our government did not bring war; the war was the result. It would be the most simplistic and naive step to say that this or that brought war. The war was a consequence; our situation is different, but to say that you brought it is utter nonsense,' added the Foreign Minister.
