Circumstances of Soldier's Death Revealed: Details
The preliminary investigation into the case of a soldier's death caused by the negligent performance of duties by the chief surgeon of the Yerevan garrison hospital has been completed. This was reported by the Investigative Committee.
It has been established that he did not conduct a comprehensive and proper assessment of the patient's pathology, which made it impossible to prevent the emergence of complications. Specifically, unidentified renal system afflictions, the deterioration of prolonged pulmonary pathology, and ineffective treatments led to a delayed diagnosis of Wegener's syndrome in the soldier in 2024.
Subsequently, the patient was transferred late to another multidisciplinary hospital, where the pathological process of "Wegener's granulomatosis" was confirmed at an already terminal stage, resulting in the soldier's death.
Additionally, public criminal prosecution has been initiated against the chief surgeon of the Yerevan garrison hospital under part 2 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code (failure or improper performance of professional duties by a medical worker resulting in a person's death due to negligence). The criminal case has been sent to the supervising prosecutor with a request to confirm and submit it for court review with an indictment.
