1-Year-Old Child in Critical Condition: New Details on the Case of Abuse by Step-Mother

On March 16, a one-year and two-month-old child admitted to the "Arabkir" medical complex remains in the intensive care unit. Their condition is critical. Doctors are fighting for the child's life. This was reported to News.am by the medical facility.

It should be noted that according to Auroranews, the Prosecutor's Office reported that from January 22 to March 10, 2026, there were incidents of physical impact that resulted in severe physical pain to the one-year-old child, as well as deliberate cases of attempted murder on March 15. A public criminal prosecution has been initiated against the child's father's second wife under part 3 of Article 196 and part 3 of Article 44-155 of the Criminal Code. A motion has been submitted to the court to select detention as a measure of restraint.

Recall that on March 16, an extraordinary incident occurred in the Ararat region. Shortly after midnight, a boy was transported to the "Arabkir" medical center with a diagnosis of "clinical death." The Arabkir police determined that the hospitalized child was 1-year-old Aleksan M. and according to operational information, the child had been beaten by one of the parents.

Additionally, in an interview with "Azatutyun," the biological mother of the child stated, "At this moment, the child is well; I had left the little one with their father, thinking it would be safe until I found a rented house." She claims that at her ex-husband's house, there are other women and children from various marriages. The biological mother claimed that the arrested step-mother is her friend.
