The Mother See Issues a Statement

The Mother See has issued a statement announcing that, according to the Patriarchal decree of His Holiness Karekin II, dated March 16, 2026, Archbishop Abraham Mkrtchyan has been relieved of his duties as the Primate of the Vayots Dzor Diocese and has been granted retirement based on his written and verbal requests.

According to the Patriarchal decree, Bishop Makary Hakobyan of the Syunik Diocese has been appointed as the acting representative of the Vayots Dzor Diocese, tasked with fulfilling the duties of the diocesan primate.
