Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense Issues New Statement

The Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense has announced that Iranian armed forces have deployed unmanned aerial vehicles towards Nakhchivan, targeting civilian infrastructure.

According to the ministry's data, it has been recorded through technical means that four drones were launched from Iranian territory. Units of the Azerbaijani army have shot down one of them, while the others were reportedly aimed at civilian objects, according to Baku.

It was noted that one of the drones targeted a secondary school during class hours but failed to reach the building and exploded in the adjacent area.

The Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense stated that it does not accept claims from the Iranian Armed Forces General Staff that Tehran respects the sovereignty of countries and has not carried out such attacks against Azerbaijan. Baku has called for an end to the denial of the incident, an apology, and accountability for those responsible.

In light of the incident, a phone conversation took place between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Jeyhun Bayramov and Hakan Fidan, to discuss the evolving situation.
