Joining the Real Opposition: The Homeland Party

The Executive Body of the Homeland Party, in its meeting on February 26, discussed the internal political situation in Armenia, existing internal and external challenges, as well as developments characteristic of the pre-election period.

It was noted that:

1. Changing the government is a primary priority stemming from the strategic objectives of the state, and the justifications and reasons for this have been presented over the years.
2. The sharp internal political tension continues to persist.
3. The political sphere remains polarized, lacking a real unifying state ideology and a clear value axis.
4. Mechanisms for legal and moral accountability regarding state institutions do not effectively provide checks and balances.
5. Political processes continue to be built on non-institutional reasoning, which hampers the possibility of stable state development.
6. The ideological foundations, programmatic priorities, and strategic visions for the future of Armenia of the Homeland Party differ from the approaches of other forces in the political field, making coalition formation unrealistic.
7. The increase in the number of forces participating from the opposition in elections may lead to fragmentation of voter ballots and inefficiency in the distribution of political resources, which in the above conditions may negatively affect the outcomes of the upcoming electoral processes.

Summarizing the findings, with the aim of potentially contributing to the consolidation of opposition voices, and on the other hand, to avoid the formation of artificial coalitions without ideological foundations, the Executive Body of the Party decided to:

1. Not participate in the parliamentary elections scheduled for 2026.
2. Urge party members, supporters, and allies to cast their votes in the upcoming parliamentary elections for any real opposition forces according to their own preference.
3. Consistently continue the process of developing the Homeland Party in all areas of party building.

At the same time, we inform that issues related to this decision will be addressed if necessary after the summarization of the election results, based on the responsibility that no conditions or opportunities are created before the elections that could harm real opposition forces.
