Orban Sends Letter to Zelensky

Orban Sends Letter to Zelensky

Hungary’s Prime Minister has addressed a letter to the President of Ukraine. For four years, you have failed to acknowledge the stance of the sovereign Hungarian government and the Hungarian people regarding the Russo-Ukrainian war. For four years, you have worked to draw Hungary into the war between your country and Russia. During this time, you have received support from Brussels and secured the backing of the Hungarian opposition.

We also see that you, Brussels, and the Hungarian opposition are coordinating efforts to establish power in Hungary with the aim of forming a pro-Ukrainian government. In recent days, you have shut down the “Druzhba” pipeline, which is vital for Hungary's energy supply. Your actions contradict Hungary's interests and endanger the reliable and affordable energy supply for Hungarian families.

Therefore, I urge you to change your anti-Hungarian policy. We, the Hungarian people, bear no responsibility for the situation in Ukraine. We sympathize with the Ukrainian people, but we do not wish to participate in the war. We do not want to finance military operations and do not want to pay more for energy.

I call on you to immediately resume the operation of the Druzhba pipeline and refrain from further attacks on Hungary's energy security.
