New Director Appointed to the Louvre Museum: Details
The Louvre Museum has a new director as French President Emmanuel Macron appoints Christophe Leriboy, as reported by english.alarabiya.net. Leriboy currently oversees the Palace of Versailles and specializes in 18th-19th century French art, holding a PhD in art history.
It is noted that former director Laurence de Cars submitted her resignation to the president, which was accepted. Macron praised this decision as a demonstration of responsibility.
The president expressed gratitude to de Cars for her work in recent years and, considering her academic reputation, offered her a new assignment involving the development of cooperation among the largest museums of G7 member countries.
It is also worth mentioning that the director's resignation followed a high-profile theft at the Louvre on October 19, where criminals made off with historic jewels in just four minutes, causing damage estimated at around 88 million euros.
