Hungary Demands Oil Transit from Croatia

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has announced that Budapest and Bratislava have approached the Croatian authorities to allow the transit of oil transported by sea from Russia through the Adriatic tanker. He stated that this is about the application of European mandatory regulations, rather than granting a service or privilege.

Szijjarto mentioned in a video message posted on the social media platform Facebook that Croatia must operate within the framework of European legal regulations and ensure the oil transit. He emphasized that in this case, the Adriatic tanker would be utilized for its intended purpose, serving as an additional route to the "Druzhba" pipeline.

Earlier, the Hungarian publication Mandiner reported that Ukraine is not restoring oil transit through the "Druzhba" pipeline, citing damages recorded at the end of January. Szijjarto, for his part, stated that there are no technical obstacles, asserting that Kyiv's actions are politically motivated.

On Sunday, Hungary and Slovakia officially requested Croatia to allow the transit of Russian oil supplied by sea, taking advantage of the EU sanctions exemption related to pipeline oil supplies.
